Over a year after the introduction of the 3008 crossover model, French manufacturer Peugeot will bring the car to Australia. Sales in the country are scheduled to begin in July, with one car already available at each dealership for display purposes.

The 3008, which will be priced at 15,995 pounds (18,500 euros) in the UK and Europe, comes packing five different engine configurations, including both diesel and gasoline: 1.6l HDi FAP (110 bhp), 2.0l HDi FAP (150 bhp), 2.0l HDi FAP (163 bhp), 1.6l VTi (120 bhp) and 1.6l THP (150 bhp).

The 3008 comes equipped with Head Up Display, Distance Alert, automatic electric parking brake, hill alert and telematic systems with satellite navigation. Standard features across the range, depending on the trim level, include 17-inch steel wheels with Michelin energy saver tires, electric windows, air conditioning, ESP and leather steering wheel, panoramic glass roof, chrome bumpers, and automatic headlights.

"Peugeot dealerships around Australia are in preparation for its launch, each one having a single display unit available for customers wishing to preview this remarkable new model," Peugeot says in a statement.

"Pricing has been made public by Peugeot Automobiles Australia and dealers have already taken a number of orders from keen customers who desire to be among the first to drive this internationally acclaimed new model."

The 3008 has already managed to receive several awards, including Auto Europa 2010 and What Car? Car of the Year. It also also on the final seven list for the 2010 European Car of the Year awards, being named by the jury "the most original Peugeot in year."
