In a previous editorial, we said that carmakers should focus on offering smaller cars and crossovers in Europe. The inspiration for this was Peugeot, who has been revising its lineup, which now includes a much smaller and lighter supermini (the 208) and more crossovers than before.
One more crossover will join Peugeot’s range soon, the 2008 which is based on the chassis of the 208 and replaces the 207 SW, which has been killed off. We knew about this because the B-segment vehicle was featured in our spyshots section, as it was undergoing testing, but Peugeot is going ahead with a reveal.
At the Paris Motor Show, the French carmaker will be showing a concept version of the 2008. The design is based on the HR1 urban crossover concept shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2010, but comes with two extra doors.
The architecture is borrowed from the 208, it will come with the same engines in a choice of either front- or all-wheel drive.
autoevolution will be attending the Paris Motor Show 2012, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
