Petty’s Garage Mustang GT Detailed, AC/DC Singer Brian Johnson Ordered a Stage 2 Example

Last October’s SEMA Show saw FoMoCo bring a variety of S550 Mustang concepts, including a pony with a purpose. We aren’t too mad about the blue-and-black exterior paint job, but the Petty’s Garage Mustang isn’t your typical Ford-badged muscle car.

Richard Petty’s high performance speed shop has been tinkering around with the Coyote V8-powered 2015 Ford Mustang and guess what: that example of the breed presented at SEMA will spawn a limited run of 143 custom 2015 Ford Mustang GT fastback vehicles.

The first unit has already been ordered by none other than Brian Johnson, a gentleman who is best known for its work with Aussie rock’n’roll act AC/DC since 1980's Back in Black. Combining crushed-and-tumbled glass with the legendary Petty Blue finish, every example of this rarefied lineage will boast with a dash of Ford Tuxedo Black paint for added visual drama.

Available to order at any Ford dealer in the US, the Petty’s Garage Stage 1 Mustang carries an MSRP of $62,210, while the Stage 2 comes in at $92,210. Both stages are animated by a 5.0 V8 supercharged by Roush/Ford Racing to 627 HP. The Stage 2 differentiates itself from the 1 by adding three-piece forged aluminum wheels, a Wilwood big brake upgrade, with the black-and-blue paint job coming as standard.

Only 100 cars will be adapted to Stage 1 specification, with the remaining 43 ‘Stangs have been reserved for Stage 2 treatment. Howbeit, only 42 of those remain, as Brian Johnson already placed his order for one. “This Mustang has just taken my breath away. It really is one of the best cars I’ve ever driven. I didn’t have an American car, but I do now!” the 67-year-old singer and songwriter mentioned.
