Petty’s Garage Dodge Challenger, Auctioned for Charity

Apparently, NASCAR driver Richard "The King" Petty has turned to the tuning world. The recently created Petty’s Garage had just revealed its first project car, a tweaked 2009 Dodge Challenger which is set to go under the hammer at the Barret-Jackson Auction in January 2010. The car can currently be seen at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

According to Petty, the car was completely disassembled and painted in ‘Petty Blue’ by BASF R-M. Tweaks include a Late Model 426 Hemi by Arrington Engines with 585 hp, Pedders suspension upgrades, Brembo Gran Turismo brakes, a new Corsa Exhaust system with a Petty's Garage custom center exhaust exit.

Furthermore, body changes consisted of a new custom front fascia and rear bumper cover, new custom rocker panels, rear spoiler and new branded interior seats and door panels, all made by Petty’s Garage.

The proceeds of the sale will benefit the Petty Family Foundation (PFF) and the charities it supports.

"This Challenger is special to me because I wanted to build something that I would drive on a daily basis. I wanted the car to have a race car look, but be functional on the street and I think the guys really captured that,”
said Petty in a statement for the press.

“But most importantly it provides our foundation with the platform to help our Veterans, children with life threatening illness and our neighbors in need. Everyone at Petty's Garage is excited about getting this Challenger to Barrett-Jackson in January. I think it will do well when we get there. It definitely shows our capabilities and the auction will put us in front of the right people to show what we can do,"
he added.
