Performance Technic’s V8-Powered BMW 1 Series Coupe Is Mental

In the world of tuned cars, there’s a special place for those that have had their engines swapped. Some of the most awesome projects we’ve ever seen on autoevolution involved swapping an engine or two and this one is no exception.
The car in the video below used to be ‘just’ an E82 135i Coupe when it rolled off the assembly line in Munich. However, the current owner wasn’t satisfied with the inline 6-cylinder setup it had and wanted... a bit more.

Therefore, he went to the guys from Performance Technic and asked them what could be done. Since the S65 4-liter V8 from the previous-gen M3 has a brilliant sound to it and incredible power delivery, a decision was made to throw one of those under the bonnet.

It wasn’t an easy task to do as they needed almost an entire M3 to do so, and the costs would, therefore, skyrocket. Luckily they bought a crashed right-hand drive E92 and took everything they needed off of it.

The 1er you see here now has almost the entire set of underpinnings from the M3 on it, along with the engine. The front and rear subframes and suspension were transplanted as well as the electronics and everything else they needed to make this not only a track beast but a useable car.

The result is a car that might not be the most comfortable BMW you have ever been in, but that can be used as a daily, with the AC working and everything else inside the cabin. What’s more, Matt Farah found it absolutely intoxicating to drive. Check it out!
