If any of you remember the 1990s – which you should, since they weren't anything like the 1960s – the most seen luxury car in hip hop videos of the time was by far the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W140, especially in S 500 or 500 SEL guise.
We don't know if that is the main reason for why William's father in the following video had the Mercedes-Benz model on his “to own” list, but it sure is a perfect choice for a son-to-father present.
The bad part about the car being featured in all those hip hop videos is that most US-spec S-Class models still on the road now have been modified in the kitschy West Coast Customs style, with chrome aftermarket “dubs”, lowered suspension and the likes.
Getting back to the aforementioned William fellow, he decided to surprise his father on his birthday by buying and perfectly restoring a 1996 Mercedes-Benz S 500, something which probably cost him a truckload of money.
Looking at the finished car though, impeccably brought back to its former glory by the peeps at Restoration Barn, we can positively say it was worth every penny, no matter how much it was.
