Perana Z-One Is a Rare Beast in California

Boy, we haven’t head about this car in a really long time. It’s the *Perana Z-One,, as rare as the white rhinoceros and probably just as “good looking”. The joint production of Milanese coachbuilder Zagato and the South African manufacturer Perana Performance Group, it was unveiled way back in 2009 at the Geneva Motor Show. However, production didn’t start until later 2010 and by that time it was announced the car would be available in the US.

We found a video which shows a red example on California plates. We think it might be the very same car that was shown in 2010 at the Concorso Italiano, an event held at Laguna Seca Gold Ranch.

Behind that long, Viper-like bonnet there’s a 6.2-liter V8 heart capable of delivering 442 hp Supposedly, this is enough to take the front-engined 2-seater coupe to 160 km/h in 10 seconds. “Only” 999 were ever supposed to be built, but we have a snaking suspicion they didn’t get anywhere near that number.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
