Pensioner Leaves Life Savings on Car Roof, then Drives Off

In the current economic climate, it's easy to see how one would not trust a bank with a penny, let alone GBP80,000 ($126,000). But going as far as taking the aforementioned sum, your life's savings, everywhere you go, might be a bit of a stretch.

This is what a 68-year-old, unnamed for obvious reasons, was doing: carrying the money around because he didn't trust the banks enough (apparently, he didn't trust his family either). And he kept doing so until this week.

It's unclear right now for the pensioner, who still works as a painter, how he lost the money. His best bet is that, for some reason (apparently he was trying to unlock his car), he placed the bag of money on top of his car and drove off.

“My car is never more than 10ft from me at work so I can keep an eye on it,"
the man told the Daily Mail. “That morning I left at about 6.20am and didn’t realise I had lost it until noon. I went home and checked my bedroom in case I had left it there.”

“Then I realized I must have put it on the roof of my car. If not, I may put it down as I got in the car, but either way it was gone.”

Now, don't get the wrong idea. You see, the pensioner wasn't taking the money with him because he liked to feel them close. His dog died recently so, with no one to guard the treasure, he was forced to take the money with him.

We reckon the money would have been safer under his bed, where he usually kept it, dog or no dog.
