Pelikan to Partner with Porsche Design from 2011

The Porsche Design Group and Pelikan International Corporation Berhad recently signed a cooperation agreement for long term cooperation. According to this agreement, from January 2011 Pelikan will produce high quality writing instruments under the Porsche Design brand and sell them worldwide, replacing Faber-Castell as the license partner.

“Pelikan fountain pens are much sought-after among collectors the world over,” Juergen Gessler, CEO of Porsche Design Group, said in a release. “The company’s experience in this area reaches back to the 19 century and set a milestone with the introduction of the first piston mechanism fountain pen in 1929.”

“In particular, their comprehensive expertise in product development and the manufacturing of high quality writing instruments are perfect attributes for the successful cooperation with Porsche Design. In addition, Pelikan shares with us a passion for innovative, high quality and luxury products that give joy for a lifetime,” Gessler continued.

“Porsche Design writing instruments fit perfectly into our product range and the high expectations of quality in terms of material, manufacturing and design that we place on all our products,”
added Thorsten Lifka, Pelikan Europe’s Executive Vice President of Group Production and R&D, speaking about the long term cooperation
plans.

“These exclusive writing instruments will complement the existing Pelikan product range wonderfully and will ensure that we can meet the varied needs of the market even better in the future,”
concludes Arno Alberty, Executive Vice President of Pelikan Europe.
