Pedrosa Will Ride in 2011 with Unhealed Shoulder

Honda may have the strongest challenger in the MotoGP this season – and there's hardly anyone to contest that – but Spanish rider Dani Pedrosa might not get to enjoy it that much, as his championship hopes have been dealt some bad cards lately.

Following the season opening Qatar GP, Pedrosa admitted that part of the reason why he didn't make such a good impression at the season start was due to the fact that he still feels some pain in his injured shoulder – following an accident in October last year. Therefore, he consulted some arm specialists, and the findings were not very encouraging.

While confirming that Pedrosa's shoulder doesn't present any vascular or nerve compression, a perfect heal of a small stretch of the plexus is expected only in time. And while that requires no operation, that means Pedrosa will basically have to ride with the pain until it disappears.

I honestly didn't expect my arm would react in this way because during preseason I never felt so much trouble and I thought the problem was solved,” said Pedrosa, according to crash.net. “However, I felt really bad in Qatar race and was aware that the injury is not completely healed.“

It was a shame because in Qatar I found a good feeling and until the second half of the race - that's when the pain started- I was really good and I saw a realistic chance of winning. I would be lying if I said I'm not disappointed because this year the bike is working very well and I'm personally prepared, but unfortunately this complication has arisen and I have nothing else to do but give my best until the injury heals completely.”
