Pedrosa Pulls Out of Sepang Test Due to Knee Pain

Dani Pedrosa won't be testing for Honda in the third day of the Sepang meeting due to knee pain. Although he improved his performances in Malaysia this morning – as compared to the first day of testing – the Spaniard revealed that he doesn't intend to force his left knee too much, especially since he has barely come out of operation last December.

Honda had planned a race simulation tomorrow, but Pedrosa confirmed that there's no way he could resist that many consecutive laps on the circuit given his medical condition.

“Tomorrow a race simulation was scheduled but at the end we decided to end the test session because today I could only do five or six laps in a row and tomorrow I won't be able to cover the race distance. Last December, in fact, I underwent an intervention to the left knee due to the injuries I suffered when I slid off in Phillip Island during the race in October. I just need some rest now,” said Pedrosa after the second day of testing.

Although he'll leave for Spain before the conclusion of the testing on the new bike, Pedrosa insisted he is very pleased with how the test went and reckoned that the 2009 challenger is certainly a more improved version of its 2008 predecessor.

“Today I was much more comfortable on the bike, I was able to go faster from the early laps and we were able to test all the items we had planned for this session. In fact I know this bike, which is an evolution of last year's bike, and this gives me an advantage compared to last year, when the bike was completely new for me. We have pointed out the aspects we want to improve for next time,” said Pedrosa.

The Spaniard is the 3rd driver having problems with injuries this week. Casey Stoner also revealed that he is in much pain following his wrist operation this winter, while reigning champion Valentino Rossi injured himself at his home in Italy – having fallen through a glass table – a few days before the Sepang testing.
