Have you ever seen a Porsche rioting against gravity? This is exactly what the crash in the video below looks like, with the footage coming from Sunday’s Porsche GT3 Cup Brazil event.
Pedro Piquet was behind the wheel of the machine that crashed. The driver was running in the second Porsche GT3 Cup race of the weekend over in Goiânia when the accident took place.

If the name seems familiar and you’re not the kind who would know the 17-year-old currently holds the 13th position in the Brazilian Porsche GT3 Cup after six races, it might be because of his family - we are talking about Nelson Piquet Jr’s little brother.

Returning to the action, Ricardo Baptista was aiming to steal sixth place from Piquet and decided to go for a late-braking overtake on the inside. Unfortunately, the maneuver was forced, causing the two Neunelfers to come into contact while cornering at a serious speed.

Piquet’s GT3 racecar was pushed onto the grass sideways and ended up flipping. From that point on, the 911 rolled about nine times. In the process, the Porsche landed on the grass, but also on the tarmac in one of the most violent airborne crashes we’ve seen this year.

Piquet escaped the crash without any major injuries

The driver managed to escape the accident with what could be described as minor consequences. To be more specific, Piquet suffered light injuries to one of his hands, as well as helmet bruising.

The racer used his Instagram account to share a photo taken in the hospital, thanking fans for the support they’ve shown him.

As wild as the sequence of rolling crashes seems, the process was also beneficial in a way. The series of impacts and spins managed to dissipate the kinetic energy of the car without any major blow that would’ve subjected the racing driver to higher g-forces.
