Give the star of the latest viral video props for a spectacular save. The honor goes to a pedestrian who happened to slip and fall on ice, just as he was crossing the street.
The incident occurred last week in Smila, Cherkasy Oblast, Ukraine, Viral Hog says in the caption of the video, which was captured on the dashcam of a car that had just stopped at the zebra crossing. You can also find it at the bottom of the page.
“The guy slipped and found an elegant way out,” the person who uploaded it writes in the description. Elegant is quite an understatement: it’s elegant, surprising and quite awesome. The video sees the car come to a full stop right before the zebra crossing, and the pedestrian making his way on it. So far, you have no reason to suspect anything could go wrong – but it does.
There’s snow and sleet on both sides of the road, and there are huge puddles of water, ice and mud on the road. This poor dude happens to slip on a bit of ice just ahead of one of these puddles, so, as he feels he’s going down, about to fall flat on his face (literally), he does the old tuck and roll. He rolls through the entire puddle and (presumably) stands up as he reaches the other pavement.
Sadly, the video cuts before we can see him making it to the other side of the zebra crossing.
So all we have to go on is this brief, elegant instant where he manages to save face, in a way. Sure, he may have gotten wet, but at least he avoided bruising his nose or breaking anything by falling. There’s always that. Plus, he delivered the laughs and secured for himself those much-coveted 15 minutes of Internet fame. As Charlie Sheen would say in his Tiger-blood, Warlock days, #winning.
