Paul Tracy to Race at Watkins Glen for KV

Paul Tracy added one more Indy Car Series round on his 2009 schedule, as the Canadian driver has been confirmed by KV Racing Technology for the race at Watkins Glen on July 5. The former CART champion will therefore drive for at least 3 more rounds this season, as the team has already confirmed him for the 2 Canadian events this year.

According to team owner Jimmy Vasser, the decision to include Tracy in the KV lineup for the Watkins Glen event was made to help the Canadian driver feel more comfortable with the team's package ahead of the Toronto and Edmonton races.

Tracy has so far competed for KV Racing Technology in the famous Indy 500 race, where he finished on a decent 9th place overall. The Canadian will drive for the first time in his racing career at Watkins Glen, at the age of 40.

Running Paul at The Glen with (team-mate) Mario (Moraes) gives us the opportunity to maximize our efforts on a very challenging road course and provides Paul with a tune-up race before he competes in front of his hometown fans in Toronto,” confirmed Vasser.

Following his good result at the Brickyard, Tracy was offered a racing spot with Foyt Racing in the 2009 Indy Car Series. However, the Canadian parted ways with AJ Foyt's team after he struggled in the rear of the field during the race at the Milwaukee Mile. As revealed by the team owner, the decision was made because Foyt Racing couldn't provide Tracy a decent package for 2009.

With only 2 presences in this year's Indy Car season, Tracy is currently 27th overall in the drivers' standings.
