Paul Tracy Inks 5-Race Deal with Dragon Racing

Paul Tracy's fans will be happy to know that their favorite driver will be making 6 starts in this year's IndyCar Series, as confirmed by Jay Penske's re-formed Dragon Racing team earlier this week. The Canadian driver's first participation in the 2011 series will happen from as early as Long Beach, scheduled for April 17.

Tracy's deal with Dragon Racing is for only 5 races - Texas, Toronto, Edmonton and Sears Point will join Long Beach in his programme – but the Canadian has already inked a deal with Dreyer & Reinbold for the famous Indy 500 race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Expectations for Long Beach are that I expect nothing and will give everything, just like Dragon Racing will for me,” blogged Tracy for Racer.

Tracy, known for his racing abilities on road courses, will try to squeeze a 4th career win at Long Beach, even if he will tackle the race without any prior testing in the off-season.

It's a track that since they changed it to the current configuration, I've won three times so it's not like I don't know my way around. The first time I won it, on the previous configuration in 1993, was for someone with the surname Penske...” he added.

The Canadian's plans for this season go further than his 5-race deal however, as he hopes some good results early in the year would attract the necessary sponsorship to do some extra rounds for Dragon. The venues he has in mind are Milwaukee (3-time winner there), Loudon, Baltimore and maybe the season finale at Las Vegas.

But anyway, now we have a programme up and running, we can build on that because we have something to go sell and try to fill in the blanks,” he concluded.
