Paul Newman's Race Cars Go under the Hammer

Death of actor and race car driver Paul Newman has left behind a tremendous collection including race-cars, Oscars and other awards that are to be spread in different directions according the old man's will.

Formula one addicts are invited to purchase his beloved race cars which are going to be sold at auction, New York Daily News wrote. The proceeds are to return to his estate, yet the date of the event is not known for the moment.

Going further, his personal property (containing the Westport estate and his art collection) is going to his beloved wife, Joanne Woodward.

The most desired Oscars and other awards, as well as his interest in Newman's Own and Salad King will go into the property of Newman's Own Foundation.

Newman and the foundation supported by his food company have been very generous over years, giving to charity no less than $250 million. The actor is also famous for helping children with life-threatening illnesses across the world through the “Hole in the Wall” camps (using profits coming from his food company).

Perhaps feeling his end was coming in the fight with the cancer, Newman started Newman's Own Foundation, a private, independent foundation to continue his projects.

Paul Newman was nominated for Oscar 10 times and won he Best Actor Oscar in 1987 for his performance as pool shark Edward (Fast Eddie) Felson in "The Color of Money." But this is not all! He also got two honorary Academy Awards and had major roles in more than 50 motion pictures, including "Butch Cassidy", "The Sting" and "Absence of Malice."

Certainly he was a winner on the screen that is worth remembering. Unfortunately, he lost the battle with cancer on September 26, this year, at age 83.
