Paul Jr. Designs Builds FARO 30th Anniversary Bike

Portable measurement and imaging solutions FARO celebrates 30 years of existence in 2011, so it has decided to mark this milestone by having one of their own customers, Paul Jr. Designs, build a custom FARO-themed chopper. The shop has already finished working on the custom chopper in question, using the FaroArm during its fabrication.

The bike’s building process will be featured on Discovery Channel's popular television series American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior premiering today, January 17, 2011 at 9pm EST.

“Creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces quickly and efficiently is important for PJD.  Some elements like the gas tank, seat pan and primary cover display the true craftsmanship that goes into every design. All of these have intricate shapes and contours that are difficult to capture or re-create by hand,” FARO says in a statement for the press.

“With the FaroArm they are able to digitize the exact shape and placement of components virtually eliminating the need to trace and create cardboard templates. The data collected with the arm can be immediately imported to the CNC machine or water-jet cutter to produce accurate pieces that will fit perfectly from the start, thus reducing scrap, saving time and boosting overall efficiency,”
the company further brags.

Paul Jr. has already posted a teaser of the FARO bike on his Twitter page, offering the chance to see a custom exhaust, bright blue wheels and a LED turn signal.

We are also waiting for Paul Jr. to finish work on the custom build that is said to debut Hawk’s newly developed BioKey for Bikes system, a fingerprint security product for motorcycles.
