Paul di Resta Looks Forward to Fighting Vettel Again

British driver Paul di Resta will take the wheel of the Force India VJM03 during the Friday practice sessions of the Australian Grand Prix, where he will “reunite” with former teammate Sebastian Vettel. The two used to be team partners in the Formula 3 Euroseries back in 2006, when Di Resta actually beat the German for the title.

Since then, each has chosen his different path in racing, with the Brit joining Mercedes Benz in the DTM, while Vettel switching to BMW – as a test driver – in the Formula One series. Despite the fact that he used to beat the German driver who is now seen as a favorite for the F1 title, Di Resta insisted he doesn't hold any regrets over his decisions in the past.

We both had different ways of doing things, it's just he got there a bit faster. We will now see what the future holds, but of course I want to beat him, and I believe I've achieved enough to be there,” said Di Resta.

We were teammates, he is a great guy, and he's done very well in Formula One, but equally I beat him in the Formula Three Euroseries. It will be nice to be up racing against him at the front one day, and hopefully for future Championships,” added the Force India reserve driver.

Di Resta insisted that the sole reason he joined Force India for his reserve role is to make the step into the series as soon as possible. Prior to his F1 debut this weekend, the Scot revealed he will be out to impress his team in Australia, and therefore make another step towards securing his future career in F1.

I'm here to try and impress these guys. At the end of the day I've got to deliver on my performances for them to take a chance and put me in the car. I believe I can make the step given the chance,” added the 23-year old driver.
