Patrick Head Hits Back at Retirement Comments from Parr

Patrick Head insisted that retirement doesn't fit in his plans for the early future within the Williams F1 organization. The 64-year old co-founder of the team thus responded to some comments made by the team's CEO Adam Parr, according to which he would leave the team for good sometime this year.

Head admitted earlier this year that he wouldn't be appearing in the Williams garage as engineering boss this year, fueling rumors that he's pondering retirement. More, the British official released the majority of his shares in the team during the Frankfurt floatation, further adding to those allegations.

I want to play my part in bringing Williams back to the front of the grid,” Head had told the media back in February, hinting that he's not thinking about retirement just yet.

Following some major staff changes announced by Williams F1 this week – with Sam Michael and Jon Tomlinson to leave the team late this year and Mike Coughlan taking over as technical chief – Parr had told the media that Head will be expected to retire “at some point this year.”

What you are telling me is news to me. He wasn't in a position to make that statement,” said Head in a recent interview with the Guardian newspaper. “My plans are not in the public domain and they will only be when I make my own statement later in the year.”

Also revealed by Parr was the fact that he had offered his resignation to the Williams shareholders following the disappointing results scored by the team so far this season, but his request was denied.
