Passenger Tries to Burn His Clothes at The Airport Because of Canceled Flight

Men (and women) react differently when faced with the unexpected. Some take changes to their plans so badly that they’re even willing to destroy personal property to vent. Like this dude did at the Islamabad Airport in Pakistan.

The man was waiting to board a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight out of Islamabad to Gilgit, when he was told that the flight had been canceled entirely because of bad weather, Inc reports.

As it happens, this was the second time he had shown up for the same flight: earlier that week, he was told the flight had been delayed to another day because of technical issue. Not that this excuses his behavior, but it does provide some context: the man wanted to get to where he wanted to be and PIA seemed to be having trouble accommodating him (and the other passengers, but they didn’t take such radical action).

So, because he was upset, the man undid his luggage right there at the airport and proceeded very calmly to starting a fire with his clothes. In the first video available at the bottom of the page, you see him using a torched item of clothing to ignite the other pieces. He kicks a guy trying to use an extinguisher to put out the flames and becomes even more irate when airport security swoops in.

In the second video, he’s arguing with an airline employee and shoves him forcefully. Considering his violent behavior, it’s a wonder security guards didn’t jump on him – or, at the very least, act sooner than they did. It’s almost like they were taking their time to see what would happen.

The flames were eventually put out by the Civil Aviation Authority firefighters and the man restrained. But here’s where this story gets even weirder: PIA has decided to let this one slip.

“No airline can risk flying a passenger plane in bad weather,” the company says in a statement, adding that all passengers had hotel bookings until the next flight out. “PIA has opted to forgive and forget the incident that happened at Islamabad International Airport on November 15.”
