Yesterday, the Passat Alltrack was such an easy game to play/ Now I need a car to off-road away/ Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Please excuse the Beatles introduction, we just can’t help entering other worlds whenever an automaker refuses to bring one of its cars stateside. Yesterday, VW released the Alltrack soft-roading version of the Passat online ahead of the vehicle’s Tokyo Motor Show launch, but the company won’t bring it to the US.

Talking to Inside Line, VW of America spokesman Mark Gilles said that the vehicle won’t be brought to America as it is based on the European incarnation of the Passat.

There must be some word today from my Alltrack so far away/ Please, Mister Postman, look and see/ Is there an import, an import for me?
