A driveable pirate ship bus / rolling party venue is perhaps the last thing you’d associate with the idea of a “masterpiece,” but this is exactly what the Gypsy Rose bus is. And it could be yours, if you want it.
A couple of weeks ago, a pirate ship bus popped up for sale on Craigslist. The location is listed as Erie, Pittsburgh, U.S., which is the location where the Gypsy Rose Pirate Bus operates. And photos show that this is, indeed, the locally-famous pirate-themed bus that’s now up for grabs.
“This timeless masterpiece was handcrafted and is a hit everywhere is goes,” the listing says. “The possibilities are endless whether you are buying it for personal use or for business. This bus is in excellent condition powered by a 5.9 Cummins. The bus is a 1998 Ford 12’.5”H 38’.8”L with 104,835 miles. Has a current PA inspection.”
The 39-foot (11.8-meter) bus also sells with a clean title and, if those miles did not deter you from entertaining the idea of a purchase, the price might: it’s $50,000 or best offer. Considering the amount of work that must have gone into the conversion, which is apparent in every detail on the bus, it’s probably a fair asking.
From social media posts, it’s clear that Gypsy Rose was still in use and in very high demand as of early February this year, before the ongoing international health crisis hit. It offered anything from transport for wedding / bachelor parties, wine tours and city tours, and photographic and video evidence indicate each trip was a genuine riot.
