Party in Chalk White With the 2021 Hyundai Kona Night Edition

We are not entirely sure Hyundai is reminiscing the electro-disco parties' pre-lockdown, but they are certainly enticing U.S. customers to a DJ Tiesto Sensation White club session with at least one of the options for this limited series. Sure, you can also go Ultra Black or Galactic Grey if you would rather swim with the tide.

Automakers are acting odd from time to time. We have seen – most recently with the 2021 Lexus NX 300h F Sport Black Line – that they love the idea of going dark and then stop short of delivering a true monochrome treatment. Hyundai is playing a slightly different game, though – you can go monotone, but you do not necessarily have to turn to the dark side.

The 2021 Kona Night Edition will arrive at dealerships this September – in limited numbers, though exact quota is still unknown – with three exterior options. The logical choice for a Night Edition would be the Ultra Black shade, but you can also gradually turn to the light side with the spacey Galactic Gray and Chalk White.

Unfortunately, what we see in the gallery above is the least enticing choice from our point of view. Anyway, regardless of exterior color choice, Hyundai is also offering other enhancements – gloss black exterior and interior detailing, aluminum sport pedals, LED front and rear lights, along with a stylish new set of 18-inch Rays semi-gloss black alloys.

And this is basically all the information the automaker has shared up to this point on the specific changes for the Night Edition as opposed to standard grades. The final known tidbit is the powertrain of choice – the 2021 Kona Night Edition will come exclusively equipped with the spicy 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that is good for 175 horsepower.

Those are sent to the wheels via the company’s well-known 7-speed double-clutch automatic transmission. We would love to point you towards a complete press release at this point, but Hyundai decided that would be superfluous and all we have is the video embedded below.
