Paris Preview: 2011 Alfa Romeo 159

Getting ready for the upcoming auto show taking place in Paris next month, Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo revealed the line-up it has prepared for the event. After announcing the Giulietta will be present there with two new engines, the carmaker will also bring the 2011 Alfa Romeo 159 model.

Both the saloon and the sportwagon versions of the model have recently undergone a facelift in its interior styling and have been enhanced by optional packages.

Visitors can admire a Sportwagon in the exclusive "Rosso Competizione" livery and equipped with the new 136 hp 2.0 JTDM engine (Euro 5), an unit that complements the Euro 5 diesel range for the 159.

“This power unit is in fact able to achieve a compromise between the needs of private customers who seek a lively yet frugal car and those of fleet customers who are concerned with running costs but do not wish to neglect comfort and driving flexibility over long distances,” a company statement reads.

The car on show is equipped with a TI Pack that adds a sporty flavor, customizing the Alfa Romeo 159 exteriors with 18-inch "turbine" design alloy wheels (a 19-inch spoked design is available as an option, as on the car exhibited), low sports ride, side skirts and oversized red brake calipers.

Inside, the car boasts wraparound seats trimmed in black leather and Alcantara with red profiles, sports pedal unit in aluminium and a kick plate with the TI logo, sports-steering wheel in leather with radio controls, gear lever knob and handbrake lever trimmed in leather with red stitching, Blue&Me system and sports instruments. The car on show also features new carbon fibre inserts (optional) on the central console and steering wheel.
