Paris 2012: SsangYong e-XIV Crossover Concept

SsangYong is still trying to break through in a big way on the European market, and if their e-XIV crossover concept is anything to go by, then perhaps they may stand a chance. It is a Nissan Juke-sized crossover, and if you were wondering what its name stands for, it’s ‘Electric-Exciting user-Interface Vehicle’, and while the name may be confusing, the Korean brand’s intentions certainly are not.

Now, despite having mentioned a production version which reportedly is in the works, no final statement on its fate has yet to be made. Under the quirky body lies an range-extender powertrain, the details of which have not been released.

The e-XIV is the third concept of its kind from SsangYong, having previously shown off the XIV-2 in Geneva, this March, and the XIV-1 prototype at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. We are still waiting for a good-looking production car, as SsangYong has a history of mis-designing their production cars (see Actyon and Rodius).
