Paris 2012: Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo (Shooting Brake)

The rear of the Porsche Panamera will finally stop making little children cry. Sadly, this particular example, the Sport Turismo (or just plain Shooting Brake) is merely a concept which probably previews the next all-new Panamera, set to make its official debut some two or three years from now.

While it may be a concept, if you replace the fancy headlights with some more common-looking ones, give it some wing-mirrors and some number plates, it would probably be street ready, as it is, so we strongly suggest that the next Panamera will be virtually identical to this.

Now, in terms of styling, it is a major improvement over the current hatchback shape, featuring a much better proportioned rear end, with 991-esque rear lights, relatively short overhangs, and a front end reminiscent of the current Cayenne, we would even go as far as to say that it’s a looker.

The show car is powered by a hybrid system, probably featuring the supercharged V6 engine which powers the Cayenne and the current Panamera hybrid. It is also rear-wheel driven, not all-wheel driven, hinting at a more focused driving experience for the future production version.
