While at the wheel of a car, your eyes must be on the road at all times, as even a split-second of lapse in focus could spell disaster. Texting while driving is far more dangerous than merely talking on the phone, which is also dangerous, but to a lesser extent.
Apparently, parents of US teens don`t really seem to be aware of the gravity of the situation, as only 1% of parents are aware of the fact that their children are texting while driving, despite the fact that 26% of teens admit to doing it at least once during every drive.
While this can`t be called ignorance, it is perhaps bordering-on, and its root cause may be the fact that the parents themselves aren`t good examples, as 61% of them have admitted to using their phone while on the move, while 54% of teens have also confessed to doing so.
