Mercedes has the CLS Shooting Brake. Jaguar has the XF Sportbrake. BMW has the 5-Series Gran Turismo. Meanwhile, Porsche... doesn’t have anything of the sort.
Obviously, they aren’t going to slap a big boot onto the 911. So the only car that can possibly get a bigger boot is the Panamera. Those people who though this four-door Porsche sedan was not big enough will be glad to hear just such a vehicle is on the way.
At the 2012 Paris Motor Show, which is coming in September, Porsche will show just such a car, but only in concept form. The idea is to gouge public reaction, but given how hungry the Germans are for new market share and growth, it’s likely the Panamera Shooting Brake will make it into production by 2015.
Also making its debut in Paris will be the Panamera facelift, which has been testing through the winter.
