Over the past few years, it somehow became obvious for some carmakers that there is a market for cars that are built in pairs. We’re not talking of course about Volkswagens, but about vehicles that have a history to them, and are appealing enough to stir an incredible emotion in buyers, enough to push them over the edge.
Aston Martin is a carmaker that does this regularly. Last year, the Brits announced the DBZ Centenary Collection, comprising a DB4 GT Zagato Continuation and a DBS GT Zagato, a pair that sells for £6 million ($7.4 million) and was quickly spoken for.

Production for this series has already begun, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still room for some more Aston duos. Enter the Vantage V12 Zagato Heritage Twins. The result of a collaboration between Aston Martin, Zagato and R-Reforged, these cars are simply breathtaking.

Twins means a pair made of a coupe and speedster Vantage V12s, each boasting some distinct and unique design cues, and a more powerful engine than usual, all as a means to celebrate Zagato’s centenary.

There will be 38 hand-built cars in all, making for 19 pairs that have already been mostly sold out, despite the $2.2 million asked for each pair. Each pair will use an all-carbon-fiber body, active aero, and gold badging, but most importantly, a reworked version of an iconic engine: the naturally aspirated 5.9-liter V12 has been talked into making 85 bhp more than it usually did, or a total of 600 bhp.

“Aston Martin’s relationship with Zagato stretches back 60 years and together in that time we have created a series of very special cars,” said in a statement Peter Freedman, Aston Martin chief marketing officer.

“The Aston Martin Vantage V12 Zagato Heritage TWINS by R-Reforged project is a fitting tribute to the Zagato centenary anniversary.”
