Pagani Zonda Revolucion Is a Fitting Swan Song

Now that chassis production of the Huayra is well underway, we can truly look back at its predecessor with a sense of nostalgia. From the very late 90s to 2013, Pagani built about 200 Zondas, all of them legendary cars with larger-than-life personalities. To say goodbye to an icon is a hard thing, but this is something really special.

The swan song for the model is called the Zonda Revolucion. Five of these things will be built to order for very rich customers. All of them have already been sold, this being the very last one produced, on display for its debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2014.

The flame of Pagani's revolution is an 800 horsepower 6-liter V12 engine. That might not sound like a lot, but the thing is made entirely out of carbon fiber and weighs just 1070 kilograms, about as much as a Renault Clio. The engine gets 50 hp more than the Zonda R and also produces 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) of torque. The gearbox is just as special, built from magnesium using six sequentially activated speeds which can be swapped in 20 milliseconds.

Most supercars have 3 or 4 ABS settings, but in true supercar excess form, this one gets 12, which can be tailored to the driver.

For now, we can only imagine what about 750 horsepower per ton can do on the track, but we need not imagine what it looks like. Based on the Zonda R and R Evolution, this new model features an all-carbon body, its weave shown through blue and gray clear coats.

Because it costs €2.2 million and you're unlikely to ever see another like it, we'd keep it under lock and key in a museum – it's that beautiful and rare. However, we assure you it's also savagely fast and built for the track. It goes without saying that all the wings and diffusers are there to create maximum downforce and give the Pirelli tires maximum grip.

Like a race car, the Zonda Revolucion has a scoop on the roof and a vertical fin for stability. The wing has a Drag Reduction System where it folds flat for reduced friction on the straights and pops back up when you're cornering, just like in Formula One.

If you're not lucky enough to be in Geneva for the Zonda's final showing, check out our exclusive photos in the gallery below.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
