Pagani: Huayra Roadster to Arrive by 2017

2014 year was supposed to be the year of the Pagani Huayra Roadster. The Huayra has been with us for three years now and its open-top incarnation was supposed to arrive in the course of the current year, but this is nowhere to be seen. Well, it looks like we’ll have a bit of waiting to do, as Pagani has confirmed the Huayra Roadster will arrive within the next two years.

Pagani spokesman Luca Venturi confirmed this to Autoblog, explaining that they are not willing to drop the tradition they’ve established with the Zonda.

The big question here regards the Huayra’s roof system, but given’s Pagani’s obsession with keeping the weight down, we’re not holding our breath for a folding metallic top. A cloth roof would be the kind of joke only Lamborghini used to pull, so we are probably left with a manually-removable roof panel such as the one used on the Zonda Roadster.

As we found out during our Lamborghini Aventador Roadster review, this is a rather painful solution, but the Huayra wasn’t the most practical car to start with, so it’s probably all right.

Pagani already asks $1.5 million (or close to EUR1 million with taxes) for the Huayra coupe, so expect the Roadster to top that by a mentionable margin. Still, Pagani's order books are filled for a few years in advance, so we're not exactly worried here.
