Ozzie Zehner’s ‘Green Illusions’ Tells Us Not to Support EVs

Yes, riding a bike is THE answer! 1 photo

The EV craze is sweeping the world at an unprecedented rate. Each day brings forth new ways of using electricity as a means of propulsion more and more efficiently, it being one of the fields of activity where scientific breakthroughs through innovation are a fact of life - not a rare occurrences like in other areas.
Who could have speculated, but 5 years ago, that in 2012 we would have working spray-on batteries? Or a new battery technology that enables batteries to (theoretically) store 1,000x more electricity than current ones are capable of mustering, thanks to nano-tech.

Well, a new, recently published book called “Green Illusions” comes to argue against the adoption of electricity and EVs as the primary means of propulsion and transportation of the future. Author Ozzie Zehner, a former GM employee himself, argues that we should look elsewhere for the power source of the future, as EV, at least in their current form aren’t the answer.

He says that the materials needed to manufacture the batteries and motors create more pollution than the car could ever counteract, by not emitting ‘greenhouse gases’. His solution? More funding for public transport! - keep in mind that we already have buses, trolley buses, trams and EV taxis which operate solely on electricity.

While we cannot deny the fact that the there is more than a grain of truth in what he is saying, we still think that with the right technological advances and improvements, EVs, even in their current basic form, are, at least, ONE answer to our problems, not THE answer.
