We've heard of several unfortunate animals or birds trapped inside the hood of a car, but never thought to see a Great Horned Owl getting stuck like that.
This occurred when a woman, who was driving from Yeehaw Junction to Plantation, Florida, struck what she thought to be a "big bird" that eventually had become a roadkill.
It was only the next day when she found out that there's a living Great Horned Owl stuck in her Ford Explorer's grille. Fortunately, the poor thing managed to survive the impact and the 138-mile trip, and it was eventually rescued and freed by the Florida Department of Wildlife and Game.
"I was driving about 60 miles per hour, and it never moved," the driver told CNN. "I thought, 'Oh my God, I hit a bird,' and felt so bad."
Seems like the big bird got off without a scratch, which can only make us happy, but we do hope there won't be any car vs. wild life interactions like this in the future.
