Overkill: Lithuanian Mayor Crushes Mercedes in Bike Lane With APC

Have you ever been riding along on the bicycle only to have your path blocked by a big SUV or saloon owned by somebody who has no regard for the environment or other people’s rights? What do you do? Usually, people lift the windshield wipers in a sign of protest, but somebody has decided to enforce the law in a more extreme way.

We’re talking about Arturas Zuokas, the Mayor of the city of Vilnius in Lithuania, who took a big Soviet armored personal carrier (APC) and thrashed a Mercedes Benz S-Klasse (thankfully, a very old one) that was parked in the bike lane. The video looks a bit fabricated and staged - it’s a bit too convenient how the media is there and the mayor just happens to have the APC at the right time in the right place - but the result are nevertheless spectacular.

Yes, it’s clearly a setup, but a big Soviet eight-wheeler rolling over a Mercedes should give anybody willing to take risk and park where they shouldn’t cause for... nightmares. The video goes on to show everything from a Rolls Royce Phantom to a Ferrari 458 being illegally parked, leaving us to wander who would win in a battle between say... a T-55 tank and a Bugatti Veyron.

Local citizens of Vilnius are reportedly tired of luxury car owners constantly parking in the various places where they shouldn’t and have requested the local council do something about it. And they did just that, in a big way!

“I’ve had enough of these drivers parking their luxury cars on bike lanes and pedestrian crossings. This tank is a good tool to solve the problem of parking in the wrong place,” the proactive mayor reportedly stated.
