Overfinch is synonymous with Ranger Rover tuning, and the Velocity differs from most of them because it’s a special edition with lots of bespoke parts. To premiere on October 31st at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, this fellow here starts out life as the V8 Autobiography or the SVAutobiography.
Straight to the point, the supercharged V8 engine retails at $105,950 for 518 horsepower and $178,500 for 557 horsepower in the United States for the regular-wheelbase Range Rover. A trunkful of money, no doubt about that, but Overfinch wants no fewer than $315,000 for the Velocity. Only ten will be made, “a powerful statement of intent” limited to merely 10 examples of the breed.
First things first, Satin Obsidian paintwork and herringbone-weave carbon fiber capture your attention. The 23-inch Cyclone forged wheels add to the visual drama, joined by black gold badging and the Ebony Lumière interior. Even a powerdome hood is included, along with carbon fiber for the front grille, air dams, and spoiler that add to the muscular profile of the luxurious utility vehicle.
“Crushed carbon-fiber details” are also available, and if you were wondering what that means, Overfinch explains that “fine layers of carbon fiber are cut and laid by hand.” This results in a unique pattern to the vehicle, unique from another Velocity with the same option. The bespoke upholstery is also a wowzer, featuring quilted hexagons and Cirrus stitching for an eye-popping contrast.
Carpet and lambswool mats can further be specified, along with sill plates reading O V E R F I N C H in bold to bring the point home. The tuner also recommends having the brake calipers painted to complement the wheels. So to speak, $315,000 is only the tip of the iceberg if you want to buy the Velocity.
The 5.0-liter engine is good for up to 155 miles per hour and 60 mph in 5.1 seconds from the factory, and Overfinch doesn't offer any ECU or mechanical modifications. Torque is rated at either 461 or 516 pound-feet, adequate numbers for a vehicle this heavy.
