Over 30 Designers at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring/Summer 2010 is about to begin and it already announces to make Berlin an important fashion capital, as more than 30 labels will show their collections on the runway.

The event, which will take place between July 1-4, 2009, will feature new participants, such as Anja Gockel, BOSS Orange, CUSTO Barcelona, Deanoor, Escada Vintage, GANT, Lena Hoschek and Patrick Mohr.

“The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin has become a Mecca for the global fashion industry”
, according to Anders-Sundt Jensen, Head of Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars. “This is reflected in the ever-rising number of designers and visitors, as well as fashion events that take place throughout Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.”

As for the international contribution, South African label Black Coffee and Pablo Ramírez from Buenos Aires will be featured at the event. South African designers, Jacques van der Watt and Danica Lepen, have won the renowned Mercedes-Benz Award for South Africa Art and Culture 2009, given this year in the field of fashion design.

The Black Coffee label feature a blend of past and future elements, presenting the old African traditions in a new light, which makes the collection familiar and uncommon at the same time, confusing the audience between history and fantasy.

Buenos Aires’ Pablo Ramirez was also honored as Argentina’s best designer last year at the first annual Fashion Edition Buenos Aires, also organized by Mercedes-Benz. Before starting his own label (RAMIREZ) in 2000, he worked for well-known brands like Alpargatas, Via-Vai and Gloria Vanderbilt. He uses old cuts and sewing techniques and primarily black and white.

Mercedes-Benz is not only the title sponsor of the Berlin event. The German automaker is also partner of the New York, Miami, Mexico City and Brisbane fashion festivals, and many more.
