Over 100,000 Toyota Avalon Sedans Recalled - Airbag Issues

Thought that Toyota recalls have stopped? Well, not really. Rushing to provide the market as many vehicles as required, Toyota might have forgotten some parts here and there... The sad thing is that these models are 10 years old and anything could have happened until now.

Toyota just announced to conduct another voluntary recall involving around 119,000 Avalon sedan models due to some airbag issues which may render the safety system inoperable.

The recall is addressing certain Toyota Avalon models made between 2003-2004. Certain circuits within their airbag control module may be susceptible to damage if exposed to electrical noise from other electrical components. This means that in some cases, the front airbags and/or seat belt pre-tensioners could inadvertently deploy.

Owners will be notified via first class mail, being advised to take their car to the most appropriate Toyota dealership where technicians will remedy the issue by adding an electrical noise filter to the airbag control module, for free of course.

Detailed info is available at www.toyota.com/recall and by calling Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

This is the 7th recall Toyota organized this year, along with various other safety issues regarding different models (including Lexus) like faulty software, braking assist failure, fire hazard, seatbelts and even steering wheels that could come off.
