Over 100,000 Tickets Sold for Audi Cup

The Audi Cup is expected to be a successful event, after more than 100,000 tickets were already sold for the meetings between FC Bayern Munchen, AC Milan, Manchester United and Boca Juniors. Fans secured their place for The Audi Cup, which will be held at Munich’s Allianz Arena on July 29 and 30.

Many of the spectators are supporters from the countries of these international clubs. The Audi Cup 2009, which is being held for the first time, is comprised of four games, so each team will appear twice in Munich’s Allianz Arena. The only tickets left are for the final day of the tournament.

“We’re highly pleased with the great interest the Audi Cup has generated,”
says Peter Schwarzenbauer, Executive Board Member for Marketing and Sales of AUDI AG. “The fans will create a tremendous atmosphere at the Allianz Arena and turn the tournament into a real soccer bonanza.”

The pairings for the Audi Cup were drawn on Saturday during the DTM round at the Nuremberg Norisring. Audi driver Oliver Jarvis advertised the event on his Audi A4 DTM in the Sunday race.

On the first playing day, Mario Gomez will make his major debut for the FC Bayern team in the match against AC Milan. Manchester United is also up to hard decision after Christiano Ronaldo’s departure, as it has to decide who will be chosen to stay alongside Wayne Rooney against high-caliber players like Ronaldinho or Filippo Inzaghi.

Boca Juniors from Buenos Aires, where superstar Diego Maradona ended his career, will play against Manchester United for a place into the final, while hosts Bayern Munich will attempt to get into the final by beating seven-time Champions League winners AC Milan. One day later, the winner of the Audi Cup 2009 will be decided.
