Ostrich Chasing Bicycle Riders Looks like a Cut-Scene from Jurassic Park

If you're not into dinosaurs (and who can blame you, they're kind of outdated), the first thing that pops into mind whenever you hear something about them is the word "reptile." Don't worry, this isn't the part where we'll say "but you're wrong," because you're not. But do you know what else is a reptile? A bird.
That's right, in more ways than one, all birds are direct descendants of reptiles, being the only ones to survive whatever happened about 65 million years ago that made all the other dinosaurs of the era extinct. So if you've ever looked at a chicken walk and thought you saw those movements somewhere else before, it was in the kitchen scene of Steven Spielberg's original Jurassic Park movie.

A group of three cyclists from South Africa had an even more terrifying encounter with one of T-Rex's descendants while pedaling along a pretty deserted road. These guys probably beat all their personal records after an angry ostrich chased them away for what looks to be the better part of half of a mile.

As we grow up, we're told ostriches are dumb and they are easily scared. We also learn that when they feel like something is threatening them, they stick their heads in the sand and pretend the threat isn't really there. The sort of "if you can't see it, it can't hurt you" philosophy.

These three guys will definitely be playing a different tune to their children. In all honesty, they don't really seem to be that afraid of the feathered Velociraptor that's fast on their tails. The man filming the encounter even slows down to allow the bird to get in front, but we're pretty sure those powerful legs that can keep up with a bike could have also been used in a lot nastier ways should one of them had tripped and fallen over. As for the beak...

But nothing like that happens, and the bird disengages after a while, having probably completed its mission - to chase the three possible threats away from its nest. Now, it's facing the long walk home.
