Looking for a 50cc-class bike for your kid but would rather choose differently than a gas-powered machine? How about one whose response you can tweak to match the growing skills of the youngster? Definitely hard to find such a machine in the internal combustion engine segment. However, if you’re willing to go green and choose an electric ride, here’s the Oset MX-10, one alternative to gas bikes that’s really worth checking out.
Designed from the start to provide young riders aged 4 to 7 with a comprehensive educational platform, the Oset MX-10 boasts higher performance than gas-powered bikes, enhanced tweaking solutions and also comprises leading-edge technologies which belong rather to the future than to the history of motorcycling.

Adjustable for power, speed and response

The greatest feature of the Oset MX-10 is that the bike offers an unprecedented level of tweaking capabilities. Whereas traditional 50cc bikes usually come with a screw throttle adjuster which puts a limit to the fuel admission, the Oset MX-10 only provides so much more.

Adult supervisors can adjust the max power of the bike, the top speed and even the response, thus tailoring the behavior of the MX-10 to the skills of the new riders. This in turn, offers a completely non-intimidating experience, allowing the youngsters to make faster progress in their new riding career.

All in all, the Oset MX-10 is equipped with big-bike components aimed at provinding a rich riding experince. You’ve probably already noticed the upside-down forks, the strong alloy rims and hubs and the 10” MX tires which can also be swapped with “supermoto” ones for asphalt fun. In fact the Oset MX-10 is an all-in-one bike, thanks to its adjustable ground clearance, bar and seat height so it can be used as a road, enduro or MX bike.

Power comes from a 1.2kW neodymium magnet motor administered by a 48 V controller. Handling is dramatically improved by the fully-adjustable suspensions and the hydraulic disc brakes, 160 mm for the front and 140 mm for the rear.

The Oset MX-10 retails in Europe for around €3,000, which is definitely not cheap. However, it is clean and silent and this might weight a lot for certain customers. Deliveries are expected to start in the summer of 2015.
