Orlando Bloom Rides a Deux Ex Machina Custom BMW S1000R

It's not uncommon to learn that many celebrities are also keen motorcycle enthusiasts, own and ride multiple bikes and can often be seen around bike customizers. Orlando Bloom needs no introduction as an actor, even though many of you maybe don't know him as a motorcyclist.

He is a passionate BMW fan and owns and rides many two-wheelers that bear the round badge of the Munich-based manufacturer. Bloom likes both modern and classic BMWs and also owns retro machines. However, the latest addition to his collection is a fairly new model, an S1000R.

A 4-cylinder roadster was a real challenge for Deus Ex Machina

Bloom has dealt with Deus Ex Machina before, as one of his retro bikes spent some time in Woolie's garage before. It looks like the 4CYL, as the S1000R was baptized also got some input and guidance from BMW's Ola Stenegard himself, the man-to-go-to when it comes to German sport bikes.

Michael "Woolie" Woolaway of Venice, CA-based Deus says that working on an in-line four bike was a bit of a challenge, as it's not that often when such bikes arrive in his shop.

The bike's design is rather simple and straightforward, and is based on Bloom's own ideas and the way Woolie reinterpreted them. Working on a sport bike is a rather difficult task, Woolie says, because these motorcycles have a specific "personality" and customizers are having a hard time adding their personal touch to it without destroying the entire vibe.

All in all, Orlando Bloom's BMW S1000R exudes minimalism and simplicity, and has become a bare streetfighter accented by the short custom tail section, custom tank and the absence of any plastic bodywork panels.

Not exactly a mesmerizing presence, Bloom's S1000R represents another attribute of the custom bike culture, building bikes with which owners identify fully.
