As the official watch partner of the Audi Sport teams taking part in both the FIA World Endurance Championships (WEC) and German Touring Car Championship (DTM), Swiss watchmaker Oris has recently unveiled their latest chronograph. The timepiece is delivered in a special box and comes in a limited edition of 2,000 pieces.
Ferrari has it, Mercedes has it, they all have an exclusive watchmakers backing their professional teams with ultimate chronographs. One of the fruits of these specific partnerships racing teams make is releasing what they call limited edition timepieces every once in a while.
The new watch features a 44 mm titanium case, an AR-coated sapphire crystal display back and is water resistant 100 meters (10 bar). It comes with a unique matte silver dial design done in two pieces with applied numerals and filled with Super Luminova afterglow pigments. The Oris Audi Sport chronograph is powered by the Swiss automatic movement Orix caliber 774 with 25 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 48 hours.
Automatic winding with personalized red rotor and a black perforated leather race-inspired strap with a titanium folding clasp are among the watch’s features. The exclusive timepiece is priced at 3,550 Swiss francs (about $3,671) and only 2,000 pieces are being put on the market.
As most of the racing teams usually do, Audi Sport also chose for one of the exclusive watch makers in the industry. Oris watch factory was founded by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian at Holstein (Basel-Country) in 1904. They are well known for producing only mechanical watches and also for making high quality watches that are accurate to a hundredth of a second.
