Back in 1971, Ford manufactured over 130,000 examples of the Country Squire, also known as LTD Country Squire. One of them ended up becoming a Hollywood celebrity after starring in The Irishman, The Deuce, and a series of other successful films.
That is the story of the Country Squire that we have here. According to the current owner, it has been used in several movies after actually being saved from a barn.
Because yes, this Country Squire was this close to being abandoned for good, and after sitting for 30 years, someone decided to give it a second chance and bring it to a movie-worthy condition.
Seller azaharnazco on eBay says the car is all original and comes with very little rust on the rockers, but of course, there’s nothing that a full restoration can’t fix. The original paint is still there, and everything is said to be working, except for the fuel gauge.
The engine under the hood is the original 429 (7.0-liter) V8 unit that came with the car, and it’s said to be working like on day one.
The 1971 Country Squire was part of the seventh generation, and it was offered exclusively with V8 units. The lineup started with a 302 Windsor and continued with a 351 Windsor, while those looking for more powerful options could get the 390 FE, the 429 that we have here, the 400 Cleveland V8, and the 460. Ford also offered a 351 Cleveland V8 option on some models.
This all-original and complete Country Squire barn find comes with low mileage, too, as the odometer is said to indicate just a little over 38,000 miles (61,150 km).
The good news is the car could end up selling at a rather low price, as it’s listed on eBay as part of a no-reserve auction, so whoever bids more can take it home. The top bid at the time of writing is $8,650.
