Orders Flood In, Ducati Multistrada Wins Buyers from other Brands

The four-bikes-in-one machine from Ducati has been on the British market for just four months and already enjoys a great deal of success, as sales forecasts are expected to be exceeded by more than 20 percent. This made Ducati secure an additional 100 Multistrada 1200 bikes for the UK market to be delivered in September.

But Ducati has one more thing to brag about: early indications suggest that over 40 percent of Multistrada buyers are new to the brand, meaning the Multistrada caught the attention of buyers from other brands.

“It is not only the design and quality of the bike that has brought new riders to the brand it is also the competitive service costs and service intervals throughout the range that has contributed to Ducati UK bucking the trend, with year on year growth in a very tough market,” a company statement reads.

The entry level Multistrada 1200, priced at GBP 10,995, was first unveiled at the 2009 EICMA show in Milan, where it has also received the Best in Show recognition.

The Multistrada 1200 features as standard 4 separate travel modes: sport, touring, urban and enduro – which are easily changed via the mode switch on the handlebars. The 150 hp 1198 derived engine and Ducati Traction Control (DTC) are also featured as standard.

The flagship Multistrada 1200 S presents ABS and Ducati Electronic Suspension by Ohlins as standard equipment. The 1200 S is available in ‘Sport edition' with specific components in carbon fibre or ‘Touring edition' with side luggage, heated grips and centre stand.

Earlier this year, Ducati also announced it has doubled the period between major services. and therefore Multistrada 1200 comes with 15,000 mile major service intervals.
