The tuning world is an interesting and extremely varied place. On the one hand, we have fan-bleeding-tastic restomods such as the Revology Mustang and the Canepa Gen III 959. But on the other hand, we have ginormous luxobarges like this fellow here.
Ladies and gentlemen, prepare your sickness bags, then put your hands together for the Scaldarsi Emperor I. What started life as a sub-$200,000 Mercedes-Maybach S600 has somehow morphed into a spill of questionable taste.
According to Quebec-based Scaldarsi Motors, the Emperor I is “a timeless creation embodying performance, design, beauty, and prestige.” I’m pretty sure not even the iconic Monty Python can pull off such high-quality humor.
Look at the jacked-up ride height! Now focus on those things that want to be acknowledged as wheels. What about the bling-bling front fascia or the iPhone 6S Rose Gold-like accents all over the place? I’m sorry, but there’s no energy left for words. This car is so bling, I need to get an eye check-up.
The interior doesn’t help either. According to Scaldarsi, the Emperor I can be adorned with no less than 24 types of animal hide, as well as 78 types of wood. Options? The Emperor I has some of those too. The highlights come in the form of engraved champagne glasses, a custom-made Rolex watch, and a custom-made key fob that’s more opulent than the car itself. For real!
What I like about the Emperor I, though, are the go-faster bits and bobs. Underneath the Mercedes-Maybach S600 body shell lurks the powertrain of a Brabus Rocket 900. More to the point, a 6.3-liter twin-turbo V12 with 888 horsepower (900 PS) and an intoxicating amount of torque (1,106 lb-ft or 1,500 Nm). How does 3.7 seconds to 62 mph (100 km/h) sound to you?
As an added bonus, the top speed is a hair-tingling 217 mph (349 km/h). The Pagani Zonda F and its gargantuan 7.3-liter AMG-built V12 can only do 215 mph (346 km/h). Now the time has come to talk about the price. If you want one of the 10 units that will ever be made, prepare at least $1.5 big ones.
