Opel’s New Top Model Is Karl Lagerfeld’s Cat: Behind the Scenes

Believe it or not but the latest top model to pose for the 2015 Opel Corsa Calendar is Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld’s cat. Chanel creative director has photographed the Birman cat while it posed on seven brand new Opel Corsas for one of the most unusual photo shoots of the year. Like this wasn’t weird already, Opel now released the behind the scenes video.

The shooting went on last month at the Studio L’Oliver in the Parisian suburb Malakoff, but Opel only recently released the behind of the scenes video, which allegedly gives an interesting insight (weird!) into the preparation for the shooting and the shooting itself. During the course of the day, Lagerfeld and his cat let their eye for design wander over the Corsa and made sure that it was covered from all angles (aww, so cute... Not!)

Wait a minute. Is this for real? Yep, it is.

Not only did it really happen, but there is actually a press release that talks about it. Two press releases. Tina Muller, Opel’s Chief Marketing Officer, who was also present for the shooting in Paris, described it: “There was a very special atmosphere in the studio. Karl Lagerfeld and the entire set were fully concentrated, warm and unbelievably friendly. In addition, the beautiful Choupette posed like a true star.”

Lagerfeld wants to marry his cat

Just in case you thought we’re joking. Chanel’s creative director really photographed his cat for the new Opel Corsa Photo Calendar, to hit the market in February 2015.

Right.

And just when you think Lagerfeld takes things too far with this cat, we’re here to shock you once more. Not only does he spoil the pet, but he even announced that he wished to marry Choupette, a year ago. The fasion legend said in an interview with CNN: “There is no marriage, yet, for human beings and animals... I never thought that I would fall in love like this with a cat.”
