Why would you want a Fiat 500 lookalike with a canvas roof and rugged array of metal and plastic bumper covers? We don't know. Let's just ask the Germans at Opel, because that's exactly what they built.
Both the German flash and the British griffon (Opel and Vauxhall) will receive a brand new car called the Adam Rocks on their dealer's lots soon. It's based on a previously shown concept car and boasts a 15mm increase in suspension, a peal-back roof and a stronger personality.
Unlike regular convertible roofs, this peel-back design folds back in just 5 seconds. It can be ordered in three colors: black, sweet coffee and light oak. Speaking of colors, just check out this little beauty. Opel calls it Goldbusters yellow and we thing it looks absolutely fantastic, a bit like the gold on Clio RS models, but hopefully a little cheaper.
Opel says that changes don't just affect the design of the car. The Adam Rocks will behave differently to the regular Adam city car because it has retuned dampers, sprints, rear suspension and steering.
When production of the Adam Rocks begins this August, the Eisenach factory in Germany will be able to fit the car with a total of five engines, two new and three old. Added to the Adam for the first time are two 1-liter SIDI Turbo engines, producing either 90 or 115 hp. Like Ford's little EcoBoost, this car offers great fuel efficiency with consumption as low as 4.3 l/100 km. Of course, state-of-the-art downsized engines are rather expensive, so Adam Rocks will also be available with simpler 1.2-liter and 1.4-liter engines.
