Opel to Premiere Meriva at Geneva Auto Show

This year’s Geneva Auto Show might just be one of the most important in history, as the auto industry is recovering from the recession and most automakers will have to bring their A game to get attention. Launching new models is a great way of increasing sales, so Geneva should witness a lot of it next month.

Opel is one of the automakers which was seriously affected by the recession. GM tried to sell the brand, than changed its mind, so people stopped trusting the German carmaker. But all that is in the past now. Opel is moving on and announced that it will premiere the second generation Meriva on March 4, at the Geneva Auto Show.

According to Opel, “The second generation Meriva offers clever, affordable, on-board flexibility. Its FlexSpace system has been further developed to become even more intuitive and easier to use. It also introduces FlexDoors, innovative rear-hinged rear doors that facilitate access to its cabin – a premiere for a volume manufacturer.”

“Moreover, the new Meriva features great interior storage space enhanced by a revolutionary concept of flexible center console, as well as the Opel-exclusive FlexFix system – the integrated rear bicycle carrier that is stored like a drawer under the luggage compartment.”

The engine choice now offers turbo-charged versions for more efficiency. Meriva customers will be able to select from a range of power starting with 75 hp and ending with the top version of 140 hp. The car will have 5- and 6-speed manual transmissions as well as a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
