It looks like 2013 is going to be another year of lows for Europe’s hurting car market. Opel is be preparing a new model offensive for the early part of 2013, which includes the new Adam and Cascade, together with refreshed Astra and Insignia models. However, they are bracing for impact: reducing production by another 10% in the coming year.
German magazine Der Spiegel said this Sunday that Opel production in 2013 will only amount to 845,000 cars. By comparison, in 2011, they made 1.19 million cars. 2012 figures are not yet available, but given these two figures, it would mean a 29% decline over two years.

As the saying goes, the night is darkest just before dawn, buy we’re curious to see just how low Opel can go. GM’s shareholders are probably going to be adamant than ever that the European division needs to be sold off, since it hasn’t made them a penny in a decade.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
