Opel Readies Four World Premieres for Frankfurt

As this year’s Frankfurt Auto Show is getting closer as we speak, automakers have already started bragging about the goodies they have prepared for the event. So is the case with German automaker Opel, who has just announced it has prepared no less than four world premieres.

Specifically, the world debuts of the company’s new Astra GTC compact coupe, the Zafira Tourer and the next generation compact Combo van will be joined by the unveiling of an experimental vehicle.

In addition to this, the series production Ampera, the first electric vehicle in Europe suitable for everyday use, is showcased just before it arrives at dealerships.

Also, Opel will present seven new highlights of the Opel ecoFLEX in Frankfurt: Agila 1.0 (gasoline, 109 g/km CO2), Meriva 1.3 CDTI (109 g/km CO2), Astra 1.7 CDTI (99 g/km CO2), Insignia 1.4 Turbo (gasoline, 134 g/km CO2) and Insignia 2.0 CDTI (115 g/km CO2) – as well as the ecoFLEX versions of the premiering Astra GTC and Zafira Tourer.

“Opel also demonstrates that conventional powertrains still have fuel-saving potential without compromising driving fun with the expanded ecoFLEX model portfolio,”
a company statement reads.

However, many of the over 60 ecoFLEX variants can meanwhile be ordered with Start/Stop technology. Developed by Opel, the Start/Stop system will be available in 34 vehicle-engine combinations by the spring of 2012.

autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
